This project saw the restoration of the former kennels at Holland House, North Ronaldsay, to create a ringing station for migrating birds.
The works aimed to capitalise on North Ronaldsay’s location on bird migration routes, supporting its existing ornithological infrastructure at the North Ronaldsay Bird Observatory, whilst also protected a small but valuable part of its built heritage.
The building restoration works were undertaken by local builder Neil Patterson and involved extensive repointing, replacement of windows and doors and refurbishment of the interior.
