Community groups in the north isles were able to apply for between £200 and £2,000 towards small projects that would conserve, enhance, and or celebrate the heritage of the North Isles. It was aimed at projects that complimented the overall objectives of the North Isles Landscape Partnership Scheme.
The types of projects supported were varied, ranging from community research that led to publications being produced, community heritage events, walks and talks, new lighting in the Sanday Heritage Centre and restoration of heritage sites such as new railings at the Shapinsay War Memorial and restoration work at folklorist Walter Traill Dennison's burial lair in Sanday.
